Our New Prime Minister – Revisited

Well, that lasted long. Bless her, Liz wasn’t really up to the job was she. Not surprising as the majority of us could see that she was a stuttering automaton with a desiccated battery. You can check out my original post by clicking on the button below. I wrote that ‘I really fucking hope she’s not as shite as I’m expecting.’ Liz Truss exceeded my expectations… in being even shitter than what I thought. She crashed the economy, the pound and her reputation and called it a win. Went on calling it a major coup and then sacked her Chancellor. I saw the big red bus coming when Kwasi Kwarteng stated in an interview that 100% he would remain as Chancellor with ol’ Trussbags as PM. Less than a week later, they were both out. I predicted the outcome with a friend and should have put some money on it. I didn’t and now I feel sad.

I also feel a little bit of shame. I’m lapping up the schadenfreude, I’m enjoying the absolute monstrosity that was her time in the big office. And I shouldn’t be. Because the big issues that I wrote about previously still exist and she’s made them worse. This is my country which I love and these absolute douche canoes are ruining it. Tories are meant to be good with the money. Well, she fucked that reputation, along with the prospect of a fair amount of people being able to afford their mortgage repayments or their heating bills. And it all ended the day after a scuffle in the Houses of Parliament. They have debased our politics so much they end up literally squabbling like rats in a sack.

On to the next one. Rishi Sunak. Where do I start? Why would I bother? As if I’m going to enjoy his time in office, so I just don’t see the point anymore. Why bother? He’ll make things shitter because he doesn’t have any other options politically. He can’t spend without raising taxes or the markets will drop again. And he won’t do anything about Brexit because he’s believed in it for so long. He’s stuck in that sack with the other rats. And I keep coming back to the question – why would you want the job of prime minister now if you’re a conservative MP?

So, like many others, I’m calling for a general election. Even though there’s another two years left before another election need be called, we need one as soon as possible. The polls show that there is a large majority for something different politically. The Conservative Party are out of decent ideas and someone else needs to have a go. It can’t get any worse, can it? Look regardless of my personal politics, I would advise you on one thing if you haven’t already. Register to vote, please register to vote. And then go and actually vote when it comes around. You may think like I, that your one tick on your ballot paper won’t make much of a difference. But if everyone goes and ticks those boxes, that will make a difference. Click the button to register.
