And by party I mean work meeting, with dancing, a suitcase full of wine, destroyed swings, quizzes, catered nibbles and more police protection than I will probably ever see in my life. If you are not disgusted by the blatant disregard our current government and their employees have shown for the rules and at some times actual laws, with the continuing litany of parties they conducted whilst the rest of us were trying our hardest to abide by the rules, then honestly, you can stop reading after the next sentence. Give yourself a shake, take a good look in the mirror, think about how you’ve got to the point where you feel obliged to defend this rabble of festering cock cheese and with great gentleness and respect… fuck off.

I could wang on and on about the absolute anger, disgust and contempt I feel right about now, but I won’t…
For those who are in agreement with me, what I would like to say is… thank you. Honestly and sincerely to you, the human being reading these words… thank you. Whilst the government were partying, you were following the rules they set out to keep us all safe. Social distancing, sanitising hands, wearing masks, getting your jabs even when you can’t stand needles.
Thank you.
The last two years have been stressful, painful, boring, mournful and unimaginably hard. Yet you have done your utmost to keep yourself safe, not only to protect yourself but not be a burden to anyone else. You have taken measures to protect those around you. You have signed up to this new social contract that was hastily drawn up at the start of all of this, to ensure you do your bit. And yeah I know, in the back of your mind, you’re probably feeling guilty about the time you didn’t wear a mask when you should have because you were fed up or the small gathering with friends you had outside because you needed that chat, or seeing a loved one when you shouldn’t have, but they needed you.
Thank you.
Because without you doing your bit, playing your small part, sacrificing aspects of your life that we would all consider normal, we would be in a much fucking worse position than we are now. When a politician trumpets the fantastic vaccination roll out, remember that it doesn’t happen without you, the volunteers and the jabbed. When the government triumphs the rebounding economy, remember that it doesn’t happen without you, the bosses who struggle to open safely and the employees who suffer through to ensure the rest of us can have some semblance of normality. Remember, if a politician is taking credit, they are taking something from you. They are taking credit for your actions. So be proud of yourself. And do not dare to give yourself a hard time because you played by the rules and missed out. Do not feel guilty that you were not there when you should have been.
And once more with feeling…
Thank you.
