Just a Sergeant Update this time round. I hope you’re all standing to attention! That’s what she said. I had covid early part of this week and last week. Not nice, felt like a really heavy cold. I’m still a little snuffly now and I cough or sneeze more than normal still, but generally I’m ok. Bit short of breath doing normal tasks as well, but you know. I’m glad I had my vaccines or it could have been worse. And I can understand the worry and fear of those who have underlying health conditions. All negative now. I didn’t lose my sense of taste or smell apart from a couple of days salt and vinegar crisps tasted a little metallic. They taste normal now though, yummy.

A round up of politics. Boris Johnson is a lying shit. Always has been, but now his lies are debasing our democratic process and it didn’t need any help from him as it’s been pretty low for a while. The government’s Rwanda plan is a massive dog whistle for some and a huge fuck you for ‘lefty-libs’ like me. My prediction is either it won’t be enacted OR it will and we’ll never send anyone to Rwanda because it’ll be too expensive. So essentially we’ve given Rwanda £120 million for a press release. And apparently Rishi Sunak was really popular when he was throwing the monies around during the worst of the pandemic, but now he needs to claw some back, he’s a very small ball bag. Who knew?! O and Chris Bryant MP has been impressing me in recent weeks. He seems like a decent bloke and a little ray of hope in Parliament at the moment.
I’m auditioning for Richard III next week and I’m really happy to be back playing around with Masque Theatre. It’s been far too long. I say happy to be back, that’s if I’m chosen by the director. I am auditioning for the title roll, lots to do and lots of responsibility. I feel I’ve got some spare time at the moment so could really give it my all. Still if I don’t get that role, hopefully something else will be available and I can get involved. It’ll be great to get back to doing Shakespeare outdoors, competing with the peacocks and the cricket in Abington Park Museum to be heard. These summer shows are always good fun.
To finish this mini round up of random sputterings, I had a thought earlier about aliens. I become increasingly hopeful that aliens exist. Maybe some lovely aliens that will give us the answer to unending power to help sort out some of the world’s problems. Or aggressive ones that want to subjugate us all, so the world can come together to fight the green tinged foe and and we can all go down in a blaze of glory. But on the downside, I become increasingly downbeat that aliens do exist, have come to visit us, thought: ‘Not today!’ and buggered the fuck off. They probably scoped out the planet, saw the unending mess everywhere and just thought, nope, we’re not getting involved.
That’s enough for now, enjoy your weekend…
