Welcome to 2023! I know, I know, two posts have already been published before this welcome to the year but I wanted to give it a little time before I felt fully settled into 2023 and those posts just couldn’t wait, I felt they had an urgency to be read. I hope you enjoyed them or at least got something from them.

Our political leaders have set out their pledges for what will soon (within the next year) be a general election so I thought I’d throw up some bullet points of the shit I’m going to achieve this year:
- Get up and have a shower, sometimes.
- Eat some bread.
- Get caught in the rain.
- Turn down eating some bread.
- Do a bit of yoga, at some point.
I will struggle and strive on these priorities, the people’s priorities and you can judge me on them, nothing else mind, don’t judge me on anything else. I’m happy to be judged, but only on these five urgent priorities that you my people, are telling me are the priorities that you prioritise.
To more important matters. How ya doing? I’m alright thanks. New years are meant to be a time for new starts and if you read my intro to 2022 last January then you’ll know that I don’t go in for big resolutions in the new year. I find them pointless because generally I never keep them. I like to make small changes over a sustained period so my life can adjust to the new things that will hopefully make me a little better or healthier or happier. Hopefully this means these new ways will take root and I’ll be better over the longer term. So in lieu of resolutions, I’ve made some small changes. Let’s see if they stick.
I’m already involved in another play. Yes another one. But this year, I think I’ll only do two at the max. No more. So you won’t see lots of posts about me acting… promise. I’ve already started learning lines and thinking about character and how I’m going to react in certain scenes. I think this one is going to be a good one. It’s The Girl on the Train at Market Harborough Theatre. I’ve seen the idea for the set and it looks genius. We start rehearsing in February and it goes up in April. Hopefully I’ll be able to get another one in before the end of the year and I’m looking forward to the announcement of what’s on next season for Market Harborough Drama Society.
Finally, last year, after Dad’s death, I started seeing a counsellor/therapist. Someone professional, doesn’t know me at all and listens and gives good advice. I’m not here to extol the virtues of speaking to a professional, that decision is up to you. But what I will say is that they have helped me. Sometimes I do feel like I’m a child being mildly rebuked (mostly when I’m being silly to be fair) however most of the time they provide me with a platform to understand why I may feel the way I feel. And we don’t just talk about bereavement, although suspiciously Dad comes up a bit. We talk about all the goings on in my life. That’s another thing that will continue in 2023.
Anyway, happy new year to you and all who sail in you.
