This Week

I didn’t really want to mention it this week, because there’s an element of moving on that needs to happen. However I suppose it was inevitable and the thing that’s on my mind the most. Tomorrow, it will be the one year anniversary of Dad’s death. We’re doing something as a family and I’m going to have a quiet day. Look at him, so pleased with his pizza. Although someone has already had a piece… mmmmmm. And I wanted to say a huge thank you to all of my family and friends for their love and support over the last year.

And so it’s been kinda a tough week. I have massive stress from a situation at work, but on Monday I decided that waiting for others to do their bit was not helping any more, so made a decisive decision and took back control of the situation. This meant that I was stressed but at least I was doing something about it. And I haven’t been sleeping too well. Probably understandable considering the circumstances. This has meant that my idea for getting up a little earlier and doing some stretching and exercise has been put on the back burner. Back to it next week. This also hasn’t been helped by having a twinge in my back. I popped for a sports massage on Wednesday and a lovely lady who was tiny proceeded to pummel my back. Every physio or massage therapist I’ve ever been to has been lovely, welcoming and professional. However, every physio or massage therapist I’ve ever been to has smiled at me and then proceeded to work the elbow and cause me pain. I think you have to have a little sadistic vein to do the job. I felt a lot better afterwards though.

And I’ve been rehearsing for my next show this week. We had three rehearsals on three consecutive nights and this really sapped my energy. This is normal and not a big deal however coupled with the above, I struggled. Constantly yawning and focus wandering, however I hope that when I stepped ‘onstage’ (we’re currently rehearsing in the bar) my energy reserves kicked in and I gave it my all. It helps that I know all of my lines for the first half which we concentrated on this week. However I’ve been struggling with a scene in the second half because my lines don’t flow naturally as a conversation with my castmate on stage. So when you don’t have that conversational progression you simply have to learn it and that’s sometimes a little harder than normal.

I just took a couple of minutes out to go through the lines that I’ve been struggling with and I knew them! Now I can get on with the rest. Small wins, happy days.

And this week I went to view a house. This little saga has been going on for a couple of years. Due to a lettuce the property market and the cost of a mortgage have been difficult. But this week I viewed a house and took Mum along for a second set of eyes, offered on it and was accepted! So I’m buying a house, which is always an easy carefree process, right? That’s how it has always gone in the past. I am excited about it though. To finish, a massive thank you to Mum for putting up with me and helping me out loads.

So word up, hang loose and avoid the drizzle.
