Guess what? Eggs and snot… no not really. I’m in another play. Once again I am pounding the boards at Market Harborough Theatre for Market Harborough Drama Society. It’s all drama, all society, all of the time. It’s great to be back. Tickets are £15.00 each, the play runs from Tuesday 16 April to Saturday 20 April with a matinee on the Saturday (don’t get me started on matinees), kick off is 7:45pm or 2:30pm for the matinee.

There’s Mum and her three sons – Henry, Terry and Tom. Being an evil matriarch, Mum schemes and lords power over her boys. And her offspring just want out from under her thumb. The eldest, Henry, has a particular idiosyncrasy which establishes itself throughout the play. The most docile of the boys, he’s still able to cause problems for his Mother. Terry, the middle child, is planning on emigrating to Canada with his shrewd wife Karen and their six children. A worrier, he’s got an ulcer and a real hankering not to be in the middle of any conflict, especially where Mum and Karen are concerned. Tom, the brash younger son, has brought his new pregnant fiancé Shirley to the family get together. He’s hoping to use his new squeeze to leverage his way out of Mum’s grasp. Will the seemingly quiet mouse have her day?
It’s a dark comedy, with some laughs and twists and turns. I play Tom, suave, sophisticated, debonair, and the character isn’t too bad either. I’m a little worried that the new grey hairs in my beard will give me away because I’m meant to be way younger than what I actually am. But I suppose that’s the joy of acting. I’m just having to play a little spoiled, a little immature, which has been immensely outside of my comfort zone, but with the brilliant direction of Paul Barrass, I’m getting there. It’s shaping up to be a great show and I’m really enjoying acting once again with Nicky Mawer who has now played my Mum in my last two shows. She is a sucker for punishment.
Surprisingly there are still some tickets left for all shows! You can get yours by clicking on the button below. You know you want to:
