I promise that my posts will never be 100% AI written. It’s not me and it’s not what this blog is for. It’s for me to wang on about what I want to talk about and I expect people to read it and agree sagely with a nod of the head and a stroke of a furry chin. Or don’t agree, all are welcome here. There’s no way a robot can mimic my unique style. I’ve been doing some marketing salesy type stuff at work recently and decided to have a little dabble with AI. The dreaded end of all the jobs.

The picture above is AI generated and was produced using the prompt: generate an image of a teddy bear holding a story book with the title, AbridgED. This is from ChatGPT. He’s cute right? Look at his little bow tie, so lovely. Don’t get me wrong, I like my AbridgED logos better because they’re mine and unique to me but this is something the bot threw up in less than a minute. I think it looks good. From this image, I then asked the bot to make it a cartoon.

Soooooo cute. I’m sure with more skill I can hone it down to something a bit more what I want or something a little more appropriate to the blog, but it came up with something decent in no time.

I’ve been thinking about Christmas. I try and get my presents sorted towards the end of October / start of November so I’m prepared and I’ve got time to chill as Christmas approaches. And I enjoy being smug. I even do myself a spreadsheet. I fucking love a spreadsheet. And I was thinking about the blog and so chucked in a prompt to ChatGPT: Write a blog post for me. It said, yeah sure, give me some parameters. I replied with: A casual post on Christmas experiential gifts. It shat out over eight hundred words in just over a minute and they weren’t that bad.

When the Christmas season rolls around, many of us find ourselves in a familiar cycle—trying to pick out the perfect gift. We scour stores, scroll through endless online deals, and attempt to figure out what someone might want, but how often do we pause and think about gifting something that can’t be wrapped?

The above is the first paragraph that the bot wrote. With a bit of tweaking and a couple of swear words, you’d never know it wasn’t me. I suppose what I’m saying is, the structure is there. It can create something to build off of or to add to. The rest of the ‘post’ wasn’t bad either. I’d rewrite it fully, but I would have some of my thinking taken away. I don’t like that because it’s my creativity that makes my posts special… in my opinion. So AI for the masses probably isn’t all there yet and this is obviously just me pissing around with the free version, but there’s something there. And it’s coming.
