The Conservatives Are Back Baby

Some important stuff happened over the weekend apparently. Kemi Badenoch was elected the leader of the Conservative Party and therefore leader of His Majesty, King Prince Charles’ loyal opposition. She said in her first speech that she wanted to be ‘honest about the fact that we made mistakes, honest about the fact that we let standards slip.’ And then was interviewed on tv saying that Boris Johnson was a great Prime Minister and the genuine furore and indignation about Partygate was overblown. The incongruous nature of these two statements will continue to baffle me for a long time and the ignorance they convey is blatant.

Quite frankly she’s fallen at the first hurdle. This is a person who when younger, hacked into a Labour MP’s website and changed all the text so that it was positive about the Tories. This is a crime. This is the person who said in an interview that she thinks carefully about what she says and does not commit ‘gaffes’ and after that, in a separate interview, said that maternity pay had gone too far. I’m scratching my head.

Badenoch is surprisingly short with journalists. Not a good look when you’re fighting for air time. She has doxed and accused journalists of harassment for simply asking questions, a big part of a journalists’ job. When presented with her own words, she continually replies with that simply was not what she said, as if she can magically gaslight herself and everyone around her. It seems like she’d be happy to start a fight with herself in a phone box, come out bloody and covered in bruises and telling the world that she beat her opponent to a standstill. She’s brittle, she’s condescending, she appointed Priti Patel shadow Foreign Secretary. *Checks archive* O that Priti Patel who was sacked as International Development Secretary by Theresa May for having unsanctioned meetings with a foreign government. Sure.

There’s one shining light in all of this. Suella Braverman was not considered for a shadow role. Thank fuck. That face, that voice, that shrill whine when she says something mad and expects people to fawn over her. Fuck off.

O and Badenoch was sloppy this week in Prime Minister’s Questions. She wanged on a lot about Donald Trump, accused Keir Starmer of reading scripted remarks whilst reading from a script herself and just had the air of someone who thought she was being clever, but just wasn’t.

My prediction. Kemi Badenoch will not be Conservative Leader at the next election. She will continue to mouth off and make a fool of herself by saying insane shit. There will be a lack of discipline in her shadow cabinet and they’ll constantly be falling over each other to say even more insane shit. She just simply won’t last.

PS – Badenoch has made Mark Francois Shadow Defence Secretary. I laughed hard when I read this. If you don’t who Mark Francois is, don’t bother googling him, but he is the gift that keeps on giving. This appointment is simply a joke in human form.
