Pathetic

It’s all so fucking pathetic. Tawdry arguments happening over social media. Social media that these two wangers own personally. You have the richest man in the word, allegedly, arguing with the most powerful man in the world, allegedly, about who’s getting government subsidies and tax cuts. The richest man in the world, allegedly, is only the richest man in the world, allegedly, because he gets government subsidies. Now the most powerful man in the world, allegedly, bought a car off the richest man in the world, allegedly, as he was advertising them outside one of the most famous buildings in the world, allegedly, and now, because the most powerful man in the world, allegedly, is pissed off, he’s selling it.

It’s not just me right? The argument these two grown children are having is fucking pathetic. Right? Haven’t they both got better things to do then salve their wounded egos as they fall out? You know who I’m talking about and if you don’t, good for you. Trust me, keep it that way. The most powerful man in the world, allegedly, just wants more money and power. That’s why he makes the decisions he makes. And the richest man in the world, allegedly, just wants to be loved by his Mum and Dad. It’s so painfully obvious that he’s constantly grasping for their love and attention and this unmitigated disaster of a twosome will fuck things up for a lot of people before their planet sized egos are repaired.

Let’s move on to our government. Winter fuel payments. Now this has been a big topic of discussion. The winter fuel payment was introduced way back in 1997 by then Chancellor, Gordon Brown. Way back then it was an extra £20, now it’s £200 or £300 if there’s a person in the household who is over 80. I’m going to make one thing very clear. Pensioners deserve their benefits, their pensions, credits and payments. However there are some pensioners who are well off, own all the houses they could ever need and quite frankly don’t need the winter fuel payment. And the new Labour government came in and decided that they were going to take away this payment for most pensioners except ones who were on lower ‘incomes.’ Fine by me. Cue uproar.

It has become a stone to fling at the government, a stick to beat them with. It’s pathetic. There was no nuance in the reporting when they first did it and it was badly communicated by the government. That’s a running theme. But they made the payment means tested and they understood that there were pensioners who were not claiming all they could and encouraged them to do so. It didn’t net the government a lot of money in savings, but they did it. And now they’ve semi reversed it. Another pathetic move. Because this cut which was supposed to saved money, has been a thorn in their side for ten months, they’ve now reversed it so they’re not saving all the money any more, the damage has been done and those it pissed off probably won’t come back around and they’ve pissed off another section of their electorate because the cut off rate is ‘income’ of £35,000 per year. So anyone who is not a pensioner and earns less than that and are struggling are wondering, where’s my fucking winter fuel payment?

The government have made a decision based on fear, reacted quickly but poorly and have again fucked it up. And here’s the thing, they’ve done some good stuff recently that you might not know about. For any household who is claiming Universal Credit (and please remember that a lot of people who claim Universal Credit also have jobs, so they’re not just benefit scroungers), the kids in that household will get free school meals. Sounds great to me. The Mums and Dads are helped out and the kids (hopefully) get a tasty and filling lunch at school. That sounds like a good use of taxpayers money to me. I know I can’t concentrate when I’m hungry and I’m sure kids can’t either. But fuck me, has this been communicated? Has this ‘good thing’ been hammered home? Nope. Pathetic communications again.
