The Fucking State of British Politics… Still

For years when the Tories were in power I thought British politics was an absolute fucking state. I mean austerity, Brexit, Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, Mary Elizabeth ‘The Lettuce’ Truss, the fucking mini budget, the Rwanda plan… what else do we need on this list? And the antidote to that, or so I thought and was hoping was Labour with Sir Keir Rodney Starmer at its head. I have been known to be wrong. Was it wrong to want someone and a party in government that was going to be a bit boring?

My current main problem with the government is the lack of any sort of discernible plan. There’s no strategy, no planning and I’ll explain myself. Labour knew that the most recent local elections were going to be a shitshow. Everyone knew. I knew, the frogs knew, people who don’t give a shit knew. Labour was going to get a fucking kicking. And after this kicking there would be some sort of challenge or some intention of a challenge to Keir Starmer as Prime Minister. So we’ve all known for months. And was there a plan? Fuck no. And this is evidenced by the absolute shitshow that has been going on afterwards. Because if as they say, he’s going to fight, then there would have been a plan that swung into place immediately afterwards, smothering the news with what Starmer has been doing to help the country and what he’s doing next. What we’ve seen is lacklustre. He didn’t have his minions ready to come out for him, to back him up. Nothing was ready. And then they scrambled immediately after.

And what I also find bizarre is those who want to supplant Starmer in the Labour party also didn’t seem to have a plan. They’re a fucking shambles as well. Wes Streeting started off by briefing that he was going to trigger a leadership election, not done it, bottled it. He resigned from cabinet, because after what he briefed, he couldn’t possibly continue as Health Secretary, but he doesn’t have the minerals to challenge. And he doesn’t have the numbers either. You know why, because if he had the numbers, he would have immediately triggered a leadership election and now he’s saying that if there is a contest, he’ll compete. Compete now Wes you wimp, don’t wait for someone else. Compete now you grasping fuckwit.

And apparently we’re meant to believe that Andy Burnham is the real replacement for Starmer. Is he sure? Are you sure? Am I sure? Give me a fucking break. There’s currently no way he can challenge. But there is a manufactured by-election in Makerfield, in his manor, the future looks bright. Does itttt? But then he’s got to win the fucking by-election. Because he may well lose the seat to Reform. So let’s assume he actually gets in, then he needs the 80 MPs to challenge Starmer. This might be easier than the previous step, but I believe Starmer would accept the challenge and stand in the leadership contest against Burnham. And apparently our Wes would stand in that contest as well. And lets say Andy Burnham gets through all of these trials and tribulations, the first thing, when he becomes Prime Minister, is he’ll be hammered by the right wing press that he doesn’t have a political mandate and he needs to call a general election, immediately. They won’t give him a minute to settle in, he’ll get pummelled right from the start. Does he have the minerals for that? They’ll eviscerate him.

And the worst thing is, I don’t have an answer for this. I’m whinging but I can’t tell you how I would make it better. And no, some right-wing fascist-adjacent bigoted clack wanking political party is not the answer.
