Should We Ban The Unemployed From Voting

Abso-fucking-lutely. If you don’t have a job, any job, you should be banned from voting. Because fuck the old people who have retired, don’t have a job and are holding the rest of the country to ransom. You old fuckers who voted for Brexit because of bullshit you saw on Facebook and nostalgia, curtailing the rights of younger people. Fuck all the old people who predominantly continue to vote for right leaning political parties who then curtail the rights of younger people. Fuck the old people who clog up the NHS, taking up beds that could be used for younger people to get better. Fuck the Granny’s and Grandads who take and take from the state, claiming benefits constantly, because that’s what a state pension is, benefits, taking all of that money away from young people. Fuck ’em. They leach off the state and don’t contribute any more.

Now before you oldies start grasping your walking sticks and hobbling over to lynch me, what I wrote above is clearly ridiculous. And I obviously don’t believe a word of what I’ve written, apart from some slight bias in general about older people being a little more right wing than me. But there are some right wing cunts out there that have started positing the notion that the unemployed should not vote. Because they’re all scroungers right? Why should they have a say, sitting on their butts, not contributing. But they definitely don’t mean the retired, who also may not have jobs. And that is also very ridiculous. Because there are many people (unemployment is up to 5% – 1.81 million potential people) who do not have jobs, and the majority are striving hard to find a job but the opportunities are not there at the moment because of our stuttering economy. And with AI steaming down the tracks, this could get a lot worse. But not those who have retired.

So if we go back to a democratic franchise which limits voting to only those with the privilege of a job. What next? It’s opening the floodgates to, for instance, stop anyone who claims benefits from voting. Well there’s about 38% of people who work who also claim Universal Credit, a benefit. Should they not get the vote? But we’ll still allow those who claim for a state pension to vote. Because here’s what will happen. As those who are in these groups, which are easy targets, are kept out from voting, their rights get lost. Their viewpoints disappear because they become an underclass of the population and there’s nothing they feel they can do to better their situation. So why bother? With a vote, there is at least one way they can have their voice heard on who should run the country. Because that’s what we all do, we vote with our own selfish views in mind. So if we exclude certain people from voting, those who can vote just vote for themselves to better themselves and fuck everyone else. I am fully aware there are people who vote with the good of the majority in mind, but there are far more who are selfish.

Alright look, I could go on and on, there’s loads more of this, but we cannot reduce the franchise in this way. It’s not correct, it’s just not on and it will exclude hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of people. And there are other ways in which these right wing cunts want to curtail our rights, our votes. It must be resisted at all costs.
